October 23, 2008
Microsoft has introduced a robot for MSN Live Messenger to translate conversation into different international languages like Arabic, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
There are two ways to use this robot.
- Web-based Translation:
MSN Translator Robot (MTBot) is configured on msn space that is http://wltbot.spaces.live.com/ - Simply add mtbot@hotmail.com in your msn live messenger contact list and start chat. MTBot will first ask you to select your source and target languages. By default source language will be English and you can select target language from Arabic, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
For more help, you can always type TBot ? and it will give you list of options to change languages or start / stop translations.
It can be useful when talking to people from China, you can first translate your sentences from MTBot and copy it to the desired contact.
For example:
How are you?
你是如何? (MTbot Translation)

I can’t get this thing to work at all. I follow all the directions and nothing. It’s not as simple as you all explain. I work with IT and this baffles me. Please, if you can tell me what I may be doing wrong. I really want this tool to work.
Thank you.
